The Smoking Room
Originally a place to relax after lively days and nights, the Smoking Room offers a unique combination of history and luxury. It boasts an Emperor-sized bed, elegant painted panelling and a deep, indulgent bath, perfect for unwinding in style after a lively wedding or event.
The Oak Room
The Oak Room is a bold and characterful retreat. It features a four-poster bed dating back to 1636, captivating artwork of serpents and unicorns and a decadent, deep wooden bath. A striking blend of drama and comfort makes it one of the most memorable rooms in the house.
The Porch Room
Our Porch Room is a flexible, dormitory-style space designed for families or groups. Four single beds can be linked in multiple configurations. There’s also a charming armoire reminiscent of a storybook wardrobe. It’s a playful, practical choice for guests seeking comfort with a hint of whimsy.
The Nursery
As the name suggests, this spacious room was traditionally the house nursery. Featuring a double bed, optional single bed and a marble-tiled bathroom, its generous proportions make it ideal for families. A room where practicality meets timeless elegance and comfort.
The Time Room
Light, airy and full of character, the Time Room is named after Old Father Time, who adorns the antique fireplace. It’s a reminder to all who stay to make the most of the present moment. The room features quirky 1920s graffiti and is celebrated for its brightness and charm, making it one of the most popular guest rooms in the house.
The General's Room
The General’s Room once housed a high-ranking military officer and is perfect for families. It includes a double bed and a bunk bed, offering a fun and comfortable space for guests of all ages.
The North Room
Step back in time in the North Room, a classic wood-panelled bedroom full of timeless elegance. Guests can enjoy a serene and restorative stay, with views of a majestic cedar tree, The Gillyflower and the wider Elmore estate.
The Butler's Room
On the second floor, the Butler’s Room offers a double bed and sweeping views over The Gillyflower and Cedar Lawn, plus a beautifully appointed bathroom. A calm and refined space for restful nights.
The Hole in the Wall

The Map Room
The Map Room celebrates James Augustus Grant, Anselm’s great great grandfather and famed explorer of the Nile. With a nod to adventure and discovery, the room is filled with character. It provides an inspiring retreat for guests seeking comfort and cosiness, with a dash of historical storytelling.
The Cooks Room
Tucked away on the upper floor, the Cook’s Room features bold, vibrant colours and a sleek shower space. With views over the walled garden, it’s a cheerful, lively space that combines practicality and flair.
The Bachelor's Room
Once home to the young masters after leaving the nursery, the Bachelor’s Room is a simple and comfortable double bedroom with a private shower, offering a restful and historically resonant stay.
The Governess' Room
