Wild Experiences
Free in nature, wild at heart
There are a wealth of wild experiences on offer across Elmore Estate. Whether you’re enjoying the leafy splendour of our treehouses, or the historic beauty of Elmore Court, our woodlands, wetlands, farmlands and rewilding areas are free for you to explore.
It’s about remembering what it is to be free in nature and wild at heart.

Wild Swimming & Sauna
Tucked away within the wild acres of Elmore Estate is our ancient, spring-fed lake. Known by some as Madam's Pond, by others as the Bottomless Pool, it’s an essential part of our immersive, Elmore Wild experience.
Surrounded by rushes and trees, the lake’s clear, fresh waters invite you to take the plunge and experience the invigorating joy of wild swimming. There’s also a diving platform and wooden kayak for hours of watery fun. Meanwhile, our snug outdoor Scandinavian sauna close by is designed to keep you toasty before and after your dip.
What’s more, it’s good for you! Cold water immersion is known to boost circulation, reduce inflammation, lower stress and lift the spirits. And the addition of a deep sauna sweat creates a Nordic-style thermal cycle: hot, cold, rest, repeat. Blissful in the summer, soul-stirringly magical in winter.
Please note: booking is essential. To keep everyone safe, all wild swim and sauna sessions must be booked in advance of your stay. We can’t offer walk-ins, so please get in touch to secure your time in the water and the warmth.

Rewilding & Regenerative Farming
Across the wider estate, you can explore our rewilding and regenerative farming projects.
Within our 450-acre rewilding area, the Elmore wetlands will be home to the largest beaver enclosures in the British Isles. Foxes, badgers, hares and our longhorn cattle roam free, with Iron Age Pigs and Exmoor Ponies coming soon. In fact, there’s an ever-growing abundance of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects and more.
Elsewhere, we’re rearing the freest-range pasture-fed beef you can find. We’re producing regenerative flour for our bread and growing fruit and vegetables for our kitchens. Through a deep commitment to sustainable farming and food production, we’re working to preserve the land and local environment for future generations.

Wild activities for all
As part of our Elmore Wild experience, we offer a number of activities across the estate and beyond – from foraging to yoga to overland safaris. And while some of these activities are organised and overseen by local experts, they’re totally wild.

“Emerging in our treehouse on the other side of the woodland, we gaze through hawthorn and hazel over a sunlit scrape (a shallow pond) that could almost be a waterhole in Africa, except with a soundtrack of blackbirds and chaffinches rather than weavers and go-away birds.”
