Wild Swimming and Sauna
Take the plunge
Wild swimming is one of the bookable activities at the heart of our Elmore Wild experience. Within this exclusive offer, guests staying at Elmore Court or in our luxury treehouses have access to the estate’s ancient, spring-fed lake.
Known as Madam’s Pond to some, the Bottomless Pool to others, the lake is surrounded by rushes, trees and open sky. It’s a picturesque setting in which to experience the invigorating joys of wild swimming. We also have a diving platform and wooden kayak for messing about on the water.
Refreshing in summer, bracing and beautiful in winter, wild swimming is a wonderful way to get close to nature. It’s good for you, too, with cold water immersion helping to boost circulation, reduce inflammation, lower stress and lift the spirits.
We also have a snug outdoor Scandinavian sauna, just a short walk from the lake. Designed to keep you toasty before and after your dip, the sauna means you can benefit from a Nordic-style thermal cycle: hot, cold, rest, repeat. A wild and wonderful way to relax in the heart of the English countryside.

Book your wild swimming experience
Booking for wild swimming at Elmore Estate is essential. To keep everyone safe, all wild swim and sauna sessions must be booked in advance of your stay. We can’t offer walk-ins, so please get in touch to secure your time in the water and the warmth.
Before you book, please review our wild swimming terms & conditions.
There are also different wild swimming sessions available, as follows:

Private Sessions
Private sessions are available by request Monday to Saturday, offering exclusive use of the lake and sauna for 90 minutes. We can accommodate groups of between two and twelve guests.
While our facilities are strictly for those aged 18 and over, supervised dogs and children are very welcome to relax on the bank and enjoy the surrounding landscape.

Communal Sessions
Our weekly group sessions offer a chance to slow down, reconnect with the natural world and enjoy the restorative contrast of cold water and heat alongside others.
Group sessions take place twice a week:
Wednesdays, 8:00-9:30am: the perfect way to start the day before work.
Saturdays, 10:00-11:30am: a relaxed weekend reset.
Each session has 12 bookable spaces, creating a friendly, small-group experience where there’s plenty of room to enjoy the water and sauna at your own pace.
Whether you’re joining us for your first wild swim or returning for a regular dose of fresh air and water, you’ll leave feeling refreshed, revived and ready for whatever the day brings.
“You may not see a soul in the grounds of Elmore Estate- with just a herd of cows for company - as six treehouses are cleverly immersed via winding boardwalks, in the forest each with its own sweeping view of ancient farmland.”
